Hi! I'm Emma (Founder of Support Buddies)

Having worked in the residential care industry for over 16 years, I realised that there was a need, in the local area, to support young, vulnerable people of school leaving age and upwards - it's often a very confusing time when extra support and guidance is needed. This was exactly why I set up Support Buddies. A Support Buddy is able to provide an unmatched level of one-to-one care which includes social support, learning support, active support and emotional support. We can also help around the house and assist with shopping. Above all, we are buddies! We build strong relationships with the people we work with on a solid foundation of trust.

I'm proud to say that the people that first entrusted me to support them are still with me today and I have developed a key set of values:

Support Buddy Values:

-
Being the best
-
Giving people choice, respect and dignity
-
Listening to each individual to provide the best support we can
-
Outcome-focused
-
Recognising diversity
-
Person-centred
-
Inclusion

Support Buddies works closely with local organisations and bodies such as the Hampshire Safeguarding Adults Board. We follow the latest legislation such as the Care Act, Care Certificate and the right safety checks.

We have experience in working with a diverse range of young people and adults including those with learning difficulties, Asperger syndrome, visual impairment, physical disability, Williams syndrome, Down Syndrome and autism. We also understand the unique challenges faced when either leaving school, transitioning to further education or transferring to a day-support service.
